Telford & Wrekin Council announces a significant milestone in the revitalisation of Telford Theatre, as it prepares for its last performance before undergoing a transformative remodelling project, supported by Central Government's Levelling Up funding.

On Friday 1 March, theatre enthusiasts will bid a temporary farewell to Telford Theatre at the final show before the commencement of extensive remodelling works.

Despite the upcoming closure for redevelopment, Telford Theatre remains dedicated to enriching the cultural landscape by continuing to host shows and performances at various venues across the borough, including an exciting outdoor theatre season programme for 2024. The current theatre infrastructure, nearly 60 years old, requires substantial maintenance and upgrades to ensure its longevity. A recent public consultation has highlighted the community's enthusiasm for the project, emphasising the want and need for a theatre in the borough.

This project will welcome a comprehensive rebuild, remodel, and expansion of Telford Theatre, complete with a new modern entrance from the car park, a new auditorium and new studio theatre, community art room, additional toilets, and improved front and back of house areas, securing a contemporary theatre in Oakengates for the future.
