British adventurer Karl Bushby, who set out from Punta Arenas, Chile, 28 years ago with the almost unimaginable ambition of walking all the way home to Hull, England, has announced his first-ever UK theatre tour - and it's coming to Shrewsbury.
Karl Bushby will also be welcomed home in Hull, following the completion of his epic 36,000-mile journey. Karl made himself two promises when he set off in 1998: he would use no transport to advance his journey, and he would not return home until he had completed the entire expedition on foot.
Nearly three decades later, his extraordinary odyssey stands as one of the most remarkable feats of human endurance ever attempted.
Along the way, Karl has crossed some of the world's most hostile landscapes, faced life-threatening dangers and endured immense physical and psychological challenges, pushing himself to limits few could comprehend. From navigating the perilous Darién Gap between Panama and Colombia, to tackling the frozen expanse of the Bering Strait between Russia and Alaska, his journey is a remarkable testament to courage, resilience, and the indomitable human spirit.
Now, audiences are invited to step inside an adventure spanning continents, cultures, and generations. Through gripping first-hand storytelling, Karl will reveal the experiences behind the headlines: the moments when survival hung in the balance, the obstacles that threatened to derail his mission, the sacrifices demanded by a life on the move, and the extraordinary determination that kept him heading towards home.
More than a story of adventure, Karl's journey is a tale of danger, discovery, and unwavering commitment — a powerful reminder of just how far the human spirit can carry us when we refuse to give up.
