Families missing loved ones are being invited to a special Christmas service of remembrance in support of Severn Hospice.

Invitations to the charity's Lights of Love event on Sunday 6 December are being sent out this week, with details of how recipients can dedicate a light to someone special in the hospice's Christmas tree.

A giant Christmas tree, festooned with lights dedicated to the memory of loved ones missed, is at the heart of the event, which features carols, readings and music at the charity's Shrewsbury hospice.

Severn Hospice says Lights of Love is a community event open to anyone, not just those who have been touched by its caring services.

The charity has also commissioned a Shropshire based artist to produce special keepsakes in the shape of sequined stars for people to place on their own Christmas trees. The sequined stars have been made in limited numbers, with profits from sales supporting the charity.

Funds raised through the appeal will help Severn Hospice continue caring for local people living with incurable illness and supporting those closest to them across Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin and Mid Wales.
