Shrewsbury Market Hall turns 60 today - and it's announced a special exhibition to celebrate.

From its official opening on September 16 1965 to today, the Market Hall has been a beating heart of our town. Exhibition highlights can be found below:

Explore the stories of the longest serving traders - some with histories stretching back over 100 years. Read about the history of the market hall, view old photographs, find interesting facts and uncover the controversial history of this site.

Make sure you head up to The Viewing Deck – situated on the top floor, where you’ll find a fascinating video telling the story of the demolition of the old Victorian market hall and the building of the new one which – 60 years ago – was intended to herald a new age.

Enjoy nostalgic scenes and footage of Shrewsbury’s forgotten past. Take a drone flight over the Market Hall and around its iconic clock tower.

Traders and civic dignitaries will celebrate with an official launch at 4pm today. You’ll have plenty of time to view the exhibition, as it will run for a month.
