Telford Town Park has once again achieved Country Park Accreditation status, recognising the high standards of management, conservation and visitor experience provided at one of the Borough's most valued green spaces.
The accreditation, awarded by Natural England through the Country Park Accreditation Scheme, confirms that Telford Town Park continues to meet the national standards required of officially recognised country parks.
Spanning more than 150 hectares, Telford Town Park is one of the Borough's most popular urban parks, attracting visitors from across the region. Beyond its popular attractions and recreational facilities, the park is also a thriving and diverse natural landscape that provides an important habitat for wildlife as well as an opportunity for people to enjoy nature close to home.
The accreditation is renewed every three years and is awarded only to parks that demonstrate they meet a range of criteria covering accessibility, visitor facilities, environmental management, community involvement and opportunities for outdoor recreation.
Accredited parks must be free to enter, accessible to local communities and managed to provide a high-quality countryside experience.
The successful renewal reflects the ongoing work of the Council's parks team and volunteers who care for the park throughout the year, balancing its role as a major visitor destination with the protection and enhancement of its natural environment.
For residents and visitors, the accreditation provides independent assurance that Telford Town Park is being maintained to nationally recognised standards and continues to offer a safe, welcoming and high-quality environment for recreation, wellbeing and connecting with nature. Accredited parks are also independently monitored by Natural England to ensure standards are maintained.
The accreditation certificate is on display at the Telford Town Park Visitor Centre.
