When RAF Stanmore closed they were able to buy a barrack hut for a mere £200. It was moved to the present site and opened for public use on December 17th 1965. Since then it has doubled in size and is now a modern attractive building.
The Hall has 2 areas, one a dance floor of approx. 1200sq ft., and the other carpeted of aprox.720sq ft alongside, the dance floor section also has a stage approx. 8ft x 8ft
Recent improvements have included disabled access and toilet facilities, modernised kitchen, and separate bar. They have also installed a wood pellet boiler to ensure that the Hall is always warm (24/7) and to provide hot water at no extra charge to the users. The outside has been insulated and rendered to give a modern attractive finish.
