Arriva has unveiled a brand-new fleet of ultra-low emission buses for Tamworth as part of a £2.5million investment aimed at delivering cleaner, more reliable public transport across the town.

The new Euro VI Enviro 200 buses were officially launched at Statfold Country Park’s popular Road, Rail and Ale Festival, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year.

The fleet will operate across Tamworth’s town network and is expected to cut greenhouse gas emissions by around 15%, while reducing nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions by approximately four tonnes annually. The investment forms part of Arriva’s ongoing commitment to improving sustainability and enhancing the customer experience.

Festival visitors were given the opportunity to explore the new vehicles, meet members of the Arriva team and find out more about local bus services connecting communities across Tamworth and the wider region.

Alongside the new fleet, Arriva has invested in vehicle tracking technology and advanced data analysis tools to help improve service reliability. The company says the upgrades have already contributed to a three per cent improvement in on-time performance through more effective timetable planning.

Arriva is also working with Staffordshire County Council on proposals for a new bus route set to launch later this year, creating additional links to major retail and leisure destinations.

Passengers can continue to take advantage of capped fares of £3 per journey, with services connecting Tamworth to destinations including Birmingham, Lichfield and Nuneaton. Regular travellers can also access season ticket options offering unlimited travel from less than £2.20 per day.

The Road, Rail and Ale Festival marked its milestone 20th anniversary with its largest event to date, featuring rail attractions, vintage vehicles, steam traction engines and a host of exhibitors from across the region.
