Brownhills Musical Theatre Company will perform the much-loved family musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Lichfield Garrick Theatre this May.

Performances take place from Tuesday 5th to Saturday 9th May 2026 at 7.30pm, with matinees on Thursday 7th and Saturday 9th May at 2.30pm.

An award-winning company, Brownhills Musical Theatre is renowned for delivering high-quality, professional productions across the Midlands, and this spectacular show promises to be no exception.

Chitty Chitty Bang Bang is a magical, high-flying adventure filled with imagination, humour and unforgettable songs. The story follows eccentric inventor Caractacus Potts, a loving father whose inventive spirit leads him and his children, Jeremy and Jemima, on an extraordinary journey.

When the family rescue an old race car from the scrapyard, Caractacus transforms it into the magnificent Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Joined by the charming Truly Scrumptious, they embark on a fantastical adventure to the mysterious land of Vulgaria, where children are forbidden and danger lurks in the form of the sinister Child Catcher.

At the heart of this production is a fantastic group of young performers, with two dedicated teams - the Treacle Tarts and the Lollipops - bringing energy, talent and charm to the stage. Brownhills Musical Theatre Company is proud to support and showcase emerging young talent, and is actively encouraging local schools and youth groups to come along, experience live theatre, and get inspired to take part themselves.

With courage, teamwork and a touch of magic, the group must outwit the tyrannical Baron and Baroness Bomburst to save the children and restore joy to the kingdom.

Featuring spectacular stage effects, including the iconic flying car,and beloved songs such as Toot Sweet and Truly Scrumptious, this production is a joyful celebration of family, imagination and the power of believing in the impossible.

Director Kelly Tye said, "This show is pure magic for audiences of all ages, but what makes it truly special is the incredible young talent we have involved. Our Treacle Tarts and Lollipops have brought so much energy, commitment and joy to rehearsals, and we’re really proud to be giving
them the opportunity to  shine on stage. We hope it inspires other young people locally to get involved in theatre and experience that same excitement."

The production is directed by Richard and Kelly Tye, with musical direction by Alex Priestley and choreography by Sian Cameron-Richardson.
