The team behind the Creative Burntwood project have announced an ecclectic programme of shows and performances to take the initiative into its second year, continuing its aim to 'enliven the community, enrich culture, and bring live entertainment to the community of Burntwood.'

Kicking off the new school year, Magical Honey promises to transport audiences to another world through a blend of South Asian dance, culture, and heritage at Chase Terrace Community Centre on 20 September. A dance show with live music, Magical Honey is aimed at youngsters and tells a story about overcoming evil using the power of art.

For craft lovers, Ashmole Bowls & Social Club is hosting MakeBeth on 11 October (8pm). Shakespeare’s story will be retold using the cardboard creations crafted by workshop participants. 

The storytelling continues into Halloween with The Witch Who Couldn’t Sleep which shows at Burntwood Memorial Institute on 25 October (2pm & 4.30pm). Blending animation, lighting and storytelling, this show offers an immersive experience where children can join in, shout out, and help shape the story as it unfolds... You can even keep comfy by attending in your pyjamas for this one.

Wonderful creatures will be brought to life with Secrets of the Selkie Sea at Chase Terrace Community Centre on 16 January (1pm). Suitable for children aged 6 plus, the production offers a stunning visual performance that's told without words and features bunraku puppetry

If you’re looking for a trip to the zoo without needing to step foot inside one then The Zoo that Comes to You is the perfect choice. Taking place at Burntwood Library on 7 April, this innovative show features an array of beautiful animals in puppet form 

For the adults, Manford’s Comedy Club returns to Burntwood Memorial Institute (26 September) for an evening of live comedy from some of the best up-and-coming comedians on the UK comedy circuit and Kathryn Roberts & Sean Lakeman will bring their exquisite brand of traditional and contemporary acoustic music to the Institute (7th October). Also for older audiences, Tales After Dark guarantees to transform Burntwood Library into an eerie vault full of some of the most brilliant ghost stories (18th March).

With summertime drawing to a close, attention will soon focus on preparing for the festive season. St Anne's Church offers the perfect backdrop for Charles Dickens' festive favourite A Christmas Carol on 4 December. Minced pies and mulled wine will also be available.
An immersive retelling of A Christmas Story will take place at Ashmole Bowls & Social Club on 12 December. Follow Jodie on a magical journey and learn Christmas tales and discover the power of storytelling and communication skills. Perfect for audiences aged  5 to 11.
