A luxury new floating restaurant and wine bar is set to launch on the Trent & Mersey Canal, offering intimate dining experiences on the water.
The Duchess Cruises, based at Kings Bromley Waterside & Marina near Lichfield, is the latest venture from Lorraine Thomas, who has transformed a renovated narrowboat into a unique hospitality destination.
Designed to accommodate just 12 guests, The Duchess will offer brunch cruises, afternoon teas, cocktail and canapé evenings, and private hire events, creating an exclusive alternative to traditional restaurants and bars.
With a passion for baking and hospitality, Lorraine will prepare all food on board, including homemade desserts, pâtisserie-style treats and savoury favourites.
“The idea behind The Duchess was to create an experience people genuinely remember,” said Lorraine. “We wanted it to feel intimate, luxurious and welcoming from the moment guests step onboard.
“There’s something magical about being on the water. Life slows down and people can properly switch off. We want friends, families and couples to create lasting memories while enjoying great food in a unique setting.”
Following a full renovation, The Duchess has now returned to the water and will be officially unveiled at a launch event in the coming weeks.
Further announcements and competitions will be shared via The Duchess Cruises’ social media channels ahead of the official opening.
