The worldwide smash-hit musical MAMMA MIA! is set to return to Stoke-on-Trent next year as part of a major UK and international tour.

The feel-good production will visit the Regent Theatre from Tuesday 17 to Sunday 22 August 2027, bringing its much-loved story and a soundtrack packed with ABBA hits back to the city. Casting is yet to be announced.

Created by Judy Craymer, MAMMA MIA! follows the story of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads as a wedding on a Greek island prompts a journey into the past. Featuring some of ABBA’s best-known songs, including Dancing Queen, Super Trouper and The Winner Takes It All, the musical has become a global theatre phenomenon.

Now in its 28th year, the show has been seen live on stage by more than 70 million people worldwide. It has also enjoyed a record-breaking 14-year run on Broadway, alongside more than 10,000 performances in London's West End.

Judy Craymer, creator and producer of MAMMA MIA!, said: “I’m hugely excited that the MAMMA MIA! UK & International Tour will be coming to Stoke-on-Trent in 2027. Our much-loved musical tells the story of a mother, a daughter and three possible dads, inspired by ABBA’s irresistible hits, and continues to delight new and returning audiences of all generations as they escape to our Greek island idyll.”

With music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, the musical is written by Catherine Johnson, directed by Phyllida Lloyd and choreographed by Anthony Van Laast.
