Street artists and creatives are being invited to leave their mark on Hanley city centre after a new free wall was created around the former bus station site.

The hoarding surrounding the area, including sections of Upper Lichfield Street, Birch Terrace, Charles Street and Old Hall Street, has been designated as a legal space for street art by Stoke-on-Trent City Centre BID and Stoke-on-Trent City Council. The project is being managed by creative organisation Hustlers of Culture.

The initiative gives artists a place to create and experiment while adding colour to a prominent city centre location ahead of future redevelopment plans for the site.

The wall will remain available for artwork until work begins on the City Centre Masterplan. Artists can paint seven days a week and are encouraged to work during daylight hours.

To keep the space open and welcoming, artwork must not be offensive, racist, overtly sexual or political. Artists are also encouraged to respect existing pieces and leave the area tidy after use.
