AVONCROFT MUSEUM - Redditch Rd, Stoke Heath, Bromsgrove, B60 4JR

Spread over 19 acres of Worcestershire countryside, England’s first open-air museum covers in excess of 700 years of Midlands history.

The site includes a collection of 20-plus historic buildings, ranging in date from Worcester Cathedral’s 14th-century Guesten Hall roof, to a post-Second World War Birmingham prefab. 
Visitors to Avoncroft can also enjoy a wildflower meadow, period gardens and a traditional cider & perry orchard.

THIS EASTER: The museum will host an 'eggciting' Easter trail, with various displays and interpretations in the buildings, plus a selection of family-friendly activities, running 23 - 24 March, 27 March - 1 April, and 3 - 7 April.


THE BLACK COUNTRY LIVING MUSEUM - Tipton Rd, Dudley, DY1 4SQ

Get stuck into some old-fashioned fun at the Black Country Living Museum.

The award-winning venue boasts more than 30 period shops and houses to explore and features a host of famous characters to help bring the region’s fascinating history to life. 

Visitors can participate in some deceptively simple old-school street games outside the back-to-backs and learn their ABCs backwards in an authentic Edwardian school lesson. 

THIS EASTER: The feather dusters are out, as historic characters get busy giving their homes and shops a spring clean for Spring in your Step!, running 23 March - 7 April.


BRITISH MOTOR MUSEUM - Banbury Road, Gaydon, Warwickshire, CV35 0BJ

Home to the world’s largest collection of historic British vehicles, the British Motor Museum tells the stories of the people and places behind the cars.

Themed trails, touch-screen exhibits, an interactive zone, costumed guided tours, and a varied programme of themed activities make for an inspiring day out.

THIS EASTER: It’s all about speed this Easter, with the attraction inviting visitors to explore some of Britain’s fastest cars for their Feed The Need For Speed event from 23 March - 14 April.


COTSWOLD FARM PARK - Guiting Power, Cheltenham, GL54 5FL

Cotswold Farm Park is an award-winning visitor attraction on the outskirts of Guiting Power, Gloucestershire. It is run by farmer and TV presenter Adam Henson and his business partner Duncan Andrews.

The Farm Park offers a wide range of annual activities for visitors of all ages allowing them to interact closely with over 50 rare breeds of farm animals and learn about farming, both past and present.

THIS EASTER: See live births up close and personal at Cotswold Farm Park's Lambing & Kidding event, running until 14 April.


COMPTON VERNEY ART GALLERY & PARK - Warwickshire, CV35 9HZ 

Compton Verney is widely considered to be an art gallery of international standing. The Georgian house is set in more than 120 acres of Grade II listed classical parkland, created in the 18th century by eminent landscape architect Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.

Although the original estate was split up and sold a century ago, the ‘pleasure grounds’ still clearly reflect the sweeping grassland, ornamental lakes and Cedars of Lebanon for which Brown is famous.

THIS EASTER: Explore the grounds with an Easter Trail Map, running from 29 March - 7 April, and discover what animals hide inside each egg. Find the answers and get a prize at the end.


ROUNDHOUSE BIRMINGHAM - 1 Sheepcote St, Birmingham, B16 8AE                         

A unique Grade II listed building at the heart of Birmingham’s canal network, The Roundhouse is a hub from which to explore the city. The venue is looked after by Roundhouse Birmingham, who are dedicated to sharing stories of the city’s industrial heritage in new and imaginative ways.

Attractions include walks, cycle tours, boat trips and a range of kayak and paddleboarding tours. For those wanting to ‘go it alone’, there are pay-as-you-feel local audio tours or printed trails from which to choose.


THE ROYAL AIR FORCE MUSEUM MIDLANDS - Cosford, Shifnal, TF11 8UP

Telling the story of aviation history and housing one of the largest collections of its kind in the UK, RAF Museum Midlands is home to more than 70 historic aircraft displayed in three wartime hangars on an active airfield. 

The museum boasts a variety of exhibitions and displays. One of the most popular features a collection of aircraft from the Battle of Britain era, including the world’s oldest Spitfire and the collection’s latest permanent addition, Strike Hard, Strike Sure: Bomber Command 1939 - 1945... Virtual tours, hands-on fun’n’flight activities and dedicated conservation and exhibition areas further add to the venue’s impressive offer.

THIS EASTER: Family-friendly STEM-based events are all the rage at RAF Museum Midlands this Easter, with Space, Race, Fly running from 23 March - 7 April.



SEVERN VALLEY RAILWAY - Kidderminster: Station Dr, DY10 1QX Bridgnorth: 2 Hollybush Rd, WV16 4AX

Operating mainly steam-hauled passenger trains between Bridgnorth, Bewdley and Kidderminster, this much-loved railway transports visitors on a journey of about 16 miles along the beautiful Severn Valley. 

The journey includes a stop-off at The Engine House Visitor Centre at Highley, where passengers can check out some special locomotives.

Those starting their journey at Bridgnorth will also have the option of stop-offs at Bewdley and Kidderminster, the latter of which boasts a railway museum.  

THIS EASTER: Kids' TV favourite Bluey will be making an appearance at The Engine House Visitor Centre, Highley on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 March.


STRATFORD-UPON-AVON BUTTERFLY FARM - Swan's Nest Lane, Stratford-upon-Avon, CV37 7LS

Set in a large greenhouse landscaped with waterfalls, ponds and tropical plants, Stratford Butterfly Farm is home to hundreds of the world’s most spectacular butterflies. 

The popular venue features a ‘discovery zone’ - inhabited by giant silkmoths and their cocoons - and the Minibeast Metropolis - home to snakes, reptiles, amphibians and other invertebrates. 

The Butterfly Farm’s connections to the rainforests of Belize and the Maya civilisation are also in evidence, with more than 30 replicated ancient Maya artefacts on display throughout the attraction.

THIS EASTER: The popular Meet the Mini-Beast, Butterfly Life Cycle and Beetle demonstrations will take place daily with the Education Team in the Discovery Zone from throughout the Easter Holidays (except Good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday).


SUDELEY CASTLE & GARDENS - Winchcombe, Cheltenham GL54 5JD

Walk in the footsteps of notable characters from the mists of time at Sudeley Castle. Boasting a fascinating history stretching back over 1,000 years, the castle is surrounded by 10 award-winning gardens. There’s also an adventure playground and a fun fort for younger visitors to enjoy.

THIS EASTER: Follow a trail of a dozen giant eggs and take part in easter themed challenges to discover hidden clues across the castle grounds with the Cracked It! Easter Egg Hunt, running from 23 March - 7 April.


THINKTANK BIRMINGHAM SCIENCE MUSEUM - Curzon St, Birmingham, B4 7XG

Located in Birmingham city centre, Thinktank offers a great day out for visitors of all ages.

From steam engines and talking robots through to gurgling guts and a chocolate wrapping machine, the venue features more than 200 hands-on science & technology displays. 

Highlights include MiniBrum - an interactive mini city for under-eights - a 4k planetarium and a science garden. 

THIS EASTER: Explore Our World from Space at Thinktank this Easter, running from 24 March - 7 April.


WEST MIDLANDS POLICE MUSEUM - Steelhouse Lane, Birmingham, B4 6BJ

Set in a Victorian lock-up, the West Midlands Police Museum showcases more than 200 years of policing history.

The lock-up was built in 1891, and during its time housed more than one million prisoners, with the cell doors closing for the final time in 2016. As well as bringing together an unrivalled collection of police

artefacts, the museum also offers a range of hands-on activities, providing visitors with the opportunity to play the role of detective at a crime scene, examine evidence in a forensics lab, take their own police ‘mugshot’ and dress up in police uniforms from years gone by. Find out how we got on when we paid the museum a visit...
