Families can enjoy twice the fun for the price of one this summer, as the Severn Valley Railway launches a special Free Return Visit offer alongside a packed programme of heritage train travel and family entertainment.
Visitors booking Freedom of the Line tickets online for travel between Tuesday 21 July and Monday 31 August 2026 will receive a free return visit, giving them another opportunity to experience one of the UK's leading heritage railways. Terms and conditions apply.
Throughout the summer holidays, visitors can step back in time to the golden age of rail travel, with journeys behind steam and heritage diesel locomotives through the beautiful Severn Valley. Along the way, they can explore the Railway's characterful stations, visit attractions including The Engine House at Highley, and enjoy a full day out for all ages.
Adding to the summer line-up, families can also enjoy Robin Hood and his Merry Friends, a live theatre production by Wise Owl Theatre at The Engine House on selected dates from Tuesday 21 July.
Originally created for the Nottingham Puppet Festival, the immersive production combines storytelling, animal puppets, audience participation and plenty of laughs. When the Sheriff of Nottingham threatens to destroy Sherwood Forest, Robin Hood and his woodland companions must work together, with help from the audience, to save the animals' home. The joyful, family-friendly show celebrates teamwork, bravery and caring for the environment.
The Free Return Visit offer is available on pre-booked Freedom of the Line tickets purchased online for travel between Tuesday 21 July and Monday 31 August 2026. Visitors are encouraged to book in advance to take advantage of the offer and to secure tickets for selected performances of Robin Hood and his Merry Friends. Book at svr.co.uk
