Shrek the Musical is set to delight audiences when it lands at Lichfield Garrick Theatre this September.

This magical comedy musical comes to Lichfield, with Sutton Coldfield Musical Theatre Company (SCMTC), for just one week from 12-16 September with a host of fabulous show tunes, high-energy dance routines and giggles galore.

Following the much-loved story of the big, green, swamp-dwelling, ogre, from the smash-hit Dreamworks animation starring Mike Myers and Eddie Murphy, this show is the perfect treat for all the family.

What’s more this blockbuster of a show heralds the return of the award-winning SCMTC in its 90th year.

Director, Paul Lumsden, said: “Bringing Shrek the Musical to the Garrick this September is very special for SCMTC as it not only represents the culmination of a year’s hard work by our cast and production team, but it is also our 90th anniversary show.

“Added to that is the fact this is a great comedy musical, stuffed full of great fairy tale characters, that really does have something for all the family. Aside from amazing transformations – Princess Fiona’s happening live on stage – it has all the cartoony fun children love and the laugh-out-loud jokes the bigger kids (us grown-ups!) will appreciate, as well as fabulous music. That includes the much-loved Monkees hit ‘I’m a Believer’, which thanks to the Dreamworks animation films, younger audiences now know as well as parents and grandparents.”

As part of a stellar production team, which has spearheaded the some of the company’s previous award-winning productions, Paul is joined once more by, musical director, Sheila Pearson and choreographer, Maggie Jackson.

Sutton Coldfield Musical Theatre Company is the longest standing musical theatre company in Sutton Coldfield, having started in 1933 as Sutton Coldfield Operatic Society. Over those 90 years the company has built a solid reputation for bringing high-quality musical theatre productions to the West Midlands.
