Stoke-on-Trent is set to celebrate the power of reading this autumn with the launch of its first-ever citywide book festival.

Taking place from 3 to 10 October 2026, the festival will bring together libraries and partner organisations from across the city for a week-long programme of activities designed to inspire readers of all ages.

The event will feature author talks, workshops, school activities and community events, all aimed at encouraging a love of books and storytelling while supporting efforts to tackle literacy poverty across Stoke-on-Trent.

The festival also coincides with the National Year of Reading, a nationwide campaign focused on helping children and adults rediscover the joy of reading and highlighting the benefits it can bring to education, wellbeing and everyday life.

Organisers say more details about the programme will be announced in the coming months, with residents encouraged to keep an eye out for updates as plans for the inaugural festival take shape.

Further information will be released soon.
