Award-winning English Youth Ballet returns to Wolverhampton with its exquisite production of Swan Lake, bringing together international principal dancers and an impressive cast of 100 local young performers, carefully selected for their skill and potential. This inspiring collaboration offers audiences the rare opportunity to see world-class artists performing alongside the stars of tomorrow.

Set in Imperial Russia at a time when the Maryinsky Ballet was favoured by the Tsar and the Russian nobility, the story unfolds around Baron von Rothbart, Director of the Russian Ballet, who schemes to secure royal patronage through the marriage of his daughter Odile to the Tsar’s son. Betrayal, deception, and doomed love lie at the heart of this famous ballet, leading to a tragic and dramatic conclusion. Audiences will delight in the lyrical beauty of the Lakeside scene, with its mesmerising corps of swans, and the sumptuous contrast of the Tsar’s Palace Gardens in Act III.

Now celebrating its 28th phenomenal year, English Youth Ballet has seen many former dancers progress into the world’s leading ballet companies.
