Albert’s Shed has announced Battle of the Bands Shrewsbury 2027, a grassroots music competition giving 16 emerging original bands the opportunity to perform live, reach new audiences and compete for a development-focused prize package.
The competition will feature four heats, each showcasing four bands, with the winner of each heat progressing to the Grand Final on Saturday 20 February 2027.
The heats will take place at Albert’s Shed Shrewsbury on Saturdays 9, 16, 23 and 30 January.
The competition is designed to support original grassroots music, giving emerging artists a credible platform to showcase their talent and develop their careers.
Audience members attending in person will have the strongest say, with each in-venue vote worth five points compared with one point for each online vote. Online voting will take place using filmed performances, giving participating bands an opportunity to reach audiences beyond the venue.
The winning band will receive a prize package designed to support its future development, with full details to be announced. Participating bands may also be considered for future performance opportunities at Albert’s Shed venues.
The Shrewsbury competition is presented by Albert’s Shed in partnership with Salopian Mixtape, with support from Beartown Brewery, Pro Audio Services and Salop Music Centre.
Meanwhile, the inaugural Battle of the Bands competition at Albert’s Shed Southwater in Telford reaches its Grand Final on Friday 6 November, featuring Notion of Fortune, Birthrite and This Fallen City.
Applications for Shrewsbury open on Saturday 31 October and close on Sunday 29 November 2026. There is no application fee. Full competition information can be found at albertsshed.co.uk
