Shrewsbury’s premier live entertainment venue, The Buttermarket, has confirmed the return of legendary UK soul band The Christians for a special one-night-only performance on Friday 17 July.

Following a sold-out show last year at the venue, the Liverpool-formed band are back by overwhelming demand, bringing their timeless catalogue of hits and unmistakable blend of soul, gospel, and acoustic pop back to Shropshire.

Formed in 1986, The Christians became one of the UK’s biggest bands of the late 80s, achieving major chart success with classics such as Ideal World and Harvest For The World. Their powerful songwriting and rich harmonies continue to captivate audiences across generations.

This year’s show will mark their first performance at The Buttermarket since the installation of the venue’s new d&b audiotechnik sound system in September 2025, delivering a cutting-edge audio experience that the manufacturer has described as being on par with London’s iconic Royal Albert Hall.
