The award-winning Illyria Outdoor Theatre is set to tour the UK with an action-packed production of Robin Hood this summer, including a number of Midlands dates.

“Illyria has performed top-notch outdoor theatre for more than thirty years and we’re delighted to be visiting a number of Midlands venues too.” said Artistic Director Oliver Gray.

Illyria's fast-moving production promises to be a fantastic opportunity to enjoy theatre, and celebrate summer, in the great outdoors. Oliver continues, “Robin Hood is a swashbuckling adventure for the whole family full of laughter, mischief, and mayhem.”

From the earliest ballads of Robin Hood, some pre-dating Chaucer, Illyria has created a fast-moving, fun-packed family show.

While good King Richard is away fighting the crusades, his friend Robert Fitzooth, under the assumed name of Robin Hood, resolves to relieve corrupt landowners of their wealth, to ruin the inept Sheriff of Nottingham and to do all he can to prevent the power-mad Prince John from seizing the throne.

Featuring tales of camaraderie, good against evil, swashbuckling action and riotous comedy, this remains one of Illyria's most popular ever titles.

The touring production will visit Winterbourne Gardens, Birmingham on Thursday 1 June; Attingham Park, Shrewsbury on Friday 16 June; Broadway Arts Festival on Saturday 17 June, Bolton Gate Farm, Stoke on Trent on Friday 21 July; Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre on Saturday 22 July; Stourbridge Lawn Tennis & Squash Club on Sunday 13 August; Forge Mill Farm, West Bromwich on Tuesday 15 June and Hanbury Hall, Droitwich on Sunday 20 June.
