Telford Theatre may be closed until late next year, but that isn’t stopping the venue from providing Shropshire audiences with a programme of varied entertainment this autumn.

The theatre is mounting its shows in other venues and is presenting an eclectic line-up of productions across the next few weeks.

Highlights include: Florence Nightingale: The Lady With The Hammer  Zany funsters Oddsocks return to the region this autumn with a brand-new show about Florence Nightingale.

More usually found presenting high-spirited versions of Shakespeare plays - they even ramp up his comedies! - the long-established theatre company’s latest offering instead takes a look at ‘the bloody background of Britain’s most famous nurse’.

Grandad Anansi A work of theatre created for children aged four and older, Grandad Anansi finds Abi and her grandfather busying themselves in the latter’s allotment. As well as watering fruit and vegetables, the pair spend their time telling one another folk tales.

But Grandad has something else on his mind: a yearning to return to his homeland of Jamaica... Described by its publicity as a ‘humorous and heartfelt inter-generational adventure’, Grandad Anansi brings together ‘captivating songs and joyous dancing’ to tell an uplifting tale of ‘love, courage and letting go’...

Done To Death, By Jove In the Great British Detective tradition - think Holmes and Watson meet Poirot and Miss Marple (alongside the usual suspects), this spoof homage investigates who murdered Lady Fanshawe!?

The show is made all the more entertaining as theatrical knights, Sir Gavin of Robertson and Sir Nicholas of Collett, attempt a 6-actor show where the other 4 thespians are stuck in a broken-down van on the M6. With only the two of them to play all the assigned roles, what could possibly go wrong?
