A nine-day festival celebrating the cultures, communities and heritage that make Burton upon Trent unique is set to take place this August.

Running from 8 to 16 August, the Burton Cultural Celebration will bring together a packed programme of events organised by local residents, community groups and organisations, offering opportunities to experience music, food, fashion, faith, art and traditions from across the town's diverse communities.

The festival will feature everything from grassroots music performances and celebrations of Burton's musical heritage to cultural exhibitions, workshops, food events and family-friendly activities. Organisers say the programme has been designed to encourage people to explore different cultures, make new connections and celebrate the communities that call Burton home.

Among the highlights are the Burton Caribbean Carnival, which will bring a colourful procession through the town centre, an open day at Princess Street Mosque, the Experience Latvia exhibition, a celebration of Gambian culture, poetry walks, music sessions and a range of workshops exploring arts, crafts and cultural traditions.

The programme also includes community-led events such as Celebrate Her, a celebration of women, culture and community, as well as shared faith events, heritage activities and opportunities for reflection and conversation.

Organisers describe the festival as a celebration of "culture, communities and heritage", with every event being delivered by the people and groups who are proud to call Burton their home.
