Families across the Midlands will have the chance to see the hit stage adaptation of Dog Man next year, as new 2027 tour dates for Dog Man: The Musical have been announced, including stops in Malvern and Lichfield.

The musical, based on Dav Pilkey’s bestselling children’s book series, will visit Malvern Festival Theatre from 12 to 14 February 2027 before heading to Lichfield Garrick from 10 to 13 June 2027 as part of an extended UK tour.

The production is currently making its European premiere and has already delighted audiences in the United States, where it enjoyed multiple sell-out Off-Broadway runs and national tours. New production images released this week offer a first glimpse of the colourful stage show, which combines comedy, music and adventure.

Dog Man has become a global publishing phenomenon, with more than 70 million books sold worldwide and translations in 48 languages. The character also made the leap to the big screen earlier this year with a successful DreamWorks animated film.

The musical follows best friends George and Harold as they attempt to create a stage show based on their favourite superhero, Dog Man – a crime-fighting hero who is part dog, part policeman. Along the way, audiences can expect plenty of laughs, catchy songs and encounters with fan-favourite characters including Petey the cat and Flippy the cyborg fish.

Featuring a book and lyrics by Emmy Award-winner Kevin Del Aguila and music by Brad Alexander, the production is aimed at children and families, bringing Pilkey’s much-loved stories to life on stage.

Tickets for the newly announced performances in Malvern and Lichfield are on sale soon.
