Newcastle-under-Lyme is set to be filled with live music next weekend as the Newcastle Jazz & Blues Festival returns for its 19th year.

Taking place from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 August, the popular festival will bring 73 free gigs to 23 venues across the town centre over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

The festival, organised by Newcastle-under-Lyme BID, will feature a wide variety of live music, with jazz and blues joined by soul, funk, rock, indie, acoustic and pop acts.

Friday's opening night will see performances across venues including The Crossways, The Clubhouse, Hogarths, The Crow's Nest, The Rigger, The Shed, Cappello Lounge and Artisan Tap.

Among the acts performing are Attack of the Vapours, Set in Stone, Boogie Knights, Jack & The Marmalade Fox, Alisha Jean, Small Horse & The Plan, Northwestern, Disastrous Robots and Onjah.

Saturday will bring a packed programme from lunchtime onwards, including a new outdoor element to the festival. 6 Towns Radio will host live performances from a gazebo on High Street, alongside the Castle Food & Drink Fest, with music continuing at venues across the town into the evening.

Saturday's line-up includes Sonic, Jadi Band, Pickford St Blues, Good Habits, Tyler Kent, Jack & The Marmalade Fox, Ben Hemming, Pretty Shivers, Goodfellas Blues Band and Never Sold Owt, among many others.

The festival will then round off on Sunday with another day of live music, starting in the afternoon and continuing into the evening.

Sunday's performers include Jack Blackman, The Vanz, Tree Katz, Barrelhouse Dukes, Swing Easy, Alisha Jean, KMK Kaiser Monkey Killers, Good Habits, Ava Ralph, Eve Buckley and Vox Americana.

With all performances free to attend, visitors are encouraged to make a day of it, explore the different venues and support the town's independent hospitality businesses while enjoying the music.

The full line-ups, timings and venues can be found on the Newcastle Jazz & Blues Festival website, with organisers warning that performance times and acts are subject to change.
