Families looking for an autumn day out with a difference can step back through more than 1,000 years of local history at Staffordshire History Centre in Stafford.

With free admission, the centre offers plenty to explore for visitors of all ages, including fascinating artefacts, interactive displays, family trails and sensory explorer backpacks. Younger visitors can also enjoy dressing-up activities, toys and puzzles designed to bring Staffordshire’s rich heritage to life.

The October half-term holiday promises even more family fun, with a programme of themed activities running from 27 to 30 October. Children can get creative with slime-making workshops and creepy crafts, while older visitors can discover a darker side of the county’s past on the centre’s popular evening ghost walks.

Visitors can also explore permanent displays, temporary exhibitions and the beautifully restored William Salt Library. Those interested in tracing their own roots can make use of the research room and digital access area, which provide access to archive collections, original records and online resources.
