Thousands of music fans are expected to descend on Burton town centre this weekend as the free Sonic Boom Festival returns with a packed programme of live performances.

Hosted by BBC Radio 6 Music presenter Chris Hawkins, the Main Stage in Burton Market Place opens at midday and features performances from The Missing Diamonds, Terrianne, Vona Vella and League of Rebelz before indie-pop favourites Pale Waves headline the festival. Music on the main stage continues throughout the afternoon and evening, finishing at 8pm.

Across the town centre, additional stages will showcase emerging artists and local talent, while the festival’s Aftershock programme will see venues including The Brewhouse, The Campus, Abbey Arcade, Burton Library and Burton Community Arts Centre host free live music into the evening.

Acts appearing across the festival include Marseille, Willow Bay, Floodhounds, tealdeer, Rose Melba, The Herron Brothers and Death of the High Street, offering everything from indie and rock to acoustic and alternative sounds.
