The City of Birmingham Orchestra join forces with their youthful counterparts for a programme that includes Shostakovich's so-called Leningrad Symphony.
First aired in 1942, as Hitler's forces lay siege to an unbreakable Leningrad (now St Petersburg), the heroic work marches towards a firm resolve, and has since come to represent a wider defiance and resilience, and human survival against the odds.
Fresh from their 2024-2025/ 20th anniversary season, the CBSO Youth Orchestra is a hotbed of next generation talent. Made up of talented musicians from across the Midlands aged 13-21, they regularly perform alongside major conductors and soloists.
