The Stafford Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) is hosting a charity bike sale this weekend, giving residents the chance to pick up a pre-loved bike while supporting a local good cause.

Taking place on Sunday 3 August from 9am to 11am, the event will showcase a wide selection of bikes that were originally dropped off by residents at the recycling centre.

Recognising their potential, the HWRC team stepped in to rescue the bikes that were still in working condition and salvage parts suitable for spares or repairs. They are now being sold on to raise funds for charity.

All proceeds from the sale will go to ‘Love It Again’, a Staffordshire-based charity dedicated to reducing waste through education and community initiatives.

The initiative is part of a wider effort to reduce waste and promote reuse across the county’s recycling centres. By giving these bikes a second life, the scheme also offers affordable and active transport options to residents.

The project has been a huge success so far, with more than £1,000 raised for local charities. The first sale, held in Stafford, saw 91 bikes sold and £769.87 raised, while a second event in Cannock raised £264 from 36 bikes.

The sale is open to all and early arrival is recommended as bikes are sold on a first-come, first-served basis.
