A local beautician is celebrating scooping three prestigious industry awards within two months.

Paola Spiga’s Glam & Glow Beauty Lab, in Hockley Heath has won as one of The UK’s Top 100 in The Small Business Awards and Best Beauty Salon in Solihull in the 3 Best Rated 2025 Awards. She has also been named Best Massage Therapist in the Quality Business Awards.

These also sit alongside her receiving a Highly Recommended at The UK Hair and Beauty Awards 2025 in September and the Ladies First Inspirational Special Recognition Award for Excellence In Health & Wellbeing, last summer.

Once a beautician to the rich and famous in her native Italy, the 39-year-old has made a new life in the UK, where she’s not only conquered her second language, but has already made her mark on her industry.

The latest string of accolades mark a proud chapter for Paola who has spent years perfecting her skills, working with industry experts at salons in Florence and then Warwickshire.

The Small Business Awards judging panel consists of highly qualified industry professionals, each with a minimum of 10 years of hands-on experience in their respective categories. The Awards celebrate and support small businesses across the UK.

The Three Best Rated® UK was founded in 2014 to help people discover the top three local businesses in each category, from professionals and restaurants to healthcare providers, across key towns and cities, nationwide.

Each business is carefully handpicked by an analyst team using a rigorous 50-Point Inspection, which evaluates reputation, reviews, history, customer satisfaction, complaints, ratings, proximity, trust, cost, and overall excellence. This policy ensures that listings are based on merit, helping users trust that the top businesses they see are truly the best in their area.

The Quality Business Award places Glam & Glow Beauty Lab among the top 1% of registered businesses in the UK, a seal of quality that has achieved an overall score of 95% or greater.

This score is evaluated from outstanding customer reviews and reputation from more than three different platforms, businesses that respond to customers questions and concerns with continued regularity and with exceptional records and with zero to very low amount of complaints. Also taken into account are businesses that conduct their day to day efforts with the highest integrity and have shown a continuous trend of giving back to their local community and reducing their carbon footprint.

Paola said: “The last couple of months have been incredibly emotional and rewarding. This is something I could only dream of when I started this journey on my own a little over two years ago.

“These awards are not just about business success. They represent resilience, care, education, wellness, and a vision of beauty that goes far beyond the surface.

“Running this clinic completely on my own hasn’t been easy, but every client who trusted me, every message of support, and every moment of connection made it worth it. Thank you to everyone who believes in my mission, my values, and my way of doing beauty differently. This is only the beginning.”

After nine years perfecting her skills in three local salons - including Clarins in the former House of Fraser department store in Leamington and Windmill Hotel in Coventry - Paola finally realised her entrepreneurial dream when, in October 2023, she opened the doors to Glam and Glow Beauty Lab on Stratford Road.

She said: “I always knew I wanted to open my own salon but I was never sure of what to do because I didn't want to just go out there with no brand and have to rebuild everything. But I believed in my skills. For me it was more about finding the right location and the best products to give the perfect service.”

As well as her awards, Paola says her greatest reward is the feedback and five-star reviews from clients.

She said: “Once they had their treatment, they said to me ‘where have you been all of these years? You're my angel, you're my saviour.’ And for me, that best sums up the reason why I love my job.
