The Belgrade Theatre will hold a Creative Wellbeing Day event on Thursday 14 March as part of Social Prescribing Day 2024, to celebrate creativity, culture and how it can help to improve mental and physical wellbeing.

This event follows a series of social prescribing sessions led by the Belgrade and the Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance last autumn, aiming to improve and support the health and well-being of their local communities.

The Belgrade Theatre will be holding a range of drop-in and bookable sessions including music, movement, games, arts & crafts, poetry and mindfulness.

Drop-in sessions on the day will include a dedicated quiet space featuring a pop-up library courtesy of Central Library, a friendship corner hosted by Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance, sensory activities for all ages, Sky Blue in the Community’s gorgeous therapy dog Winnie, plus the chance to contribute to a piece of public art on the Belgrade’s Exhibition Wall.

The Coventry & Rugby GP Alliance and Financial Crime Team will be on-site offering free advice sessions, alongside a number of dedicated hour-long guided conversations: Conversation Café for Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Grief and Loss Café, Men’s Café (for men, trans inclusive, of all ages), Queer Café (for anyone who identifies as LGBTQIA+), and Crisis Café (for people seeking help with their mental health).

The Belgrade Theatre’s Creative Wellbeing Day is a National Academy of Social Prescribing Event. Social Prescribers offer a friendly space to provide social support, housing support, artistic activities, financial support, lifelong learning, volunteering, and physical well-being. Social prescribing can help individuals have more control over their own health and find ways to improve how they feel in a way that suits them.
