The Coventry Music Museum hit a milestone last week as it celebrated twelve amazing years. With over 50,000 visitors the museum, based in Coventry’s 2-Tone Quarter on Ball Hill, has been frequently number one on “Things to Do” in the city.

Director Curator Pete Chambers BEM said of the museum’s success: “Some gave us a few years, but we learnt a lot on how to run a small business and made CMM something 'special' (pun intended). I want to thank all my amazing team and all our visitors over the years. Coventry and its music is a story worth telling, and people from over 100 countries have come to learn more of that story. Here’s to the next twelve years.”

The guest of honour was Coventry Bhangra legend Panjabi MC, who was interviewed in front of an audience about his amazing career and his groundbreaking record Mundian To Bach Ke (Beware of The Boys). It's a song that not only brought Bhangra to the mainstream, but was covered by Jay Z and is the only record to come out of Coventry that is on the best selling world singles chart of all time! After an enlightening interview Raj (Panjabi MC) was kind enough to cut the special Birthday cake and sign photos for his fans - a great way to mark such an important juncture in the museum’s history.

The Coventry Music Museum is open from Thursday to Sunday, £6 for adults and Kids (under 15) go free.
