Coventry University is continuing to help young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) to explore digital arts, immersive storytelling and pathways into the creative industries through an extension of its pioneering Inclusive Immersive project.
Building on the success of a 2024 pilot, Inclusive Immersive 2.0 allows participants to develop skills and confidence by exploring areas such as game design, interactive storytelling, music and movement in games, character creation, pixel art and 3D world-building.
Funded by Arts Council England, the new phase of the programme is being delivered in partnership with Open Theatre and Farrer Consulting, and will run throughout the summer, engaging students through accessible and creative workshops. New elements include after-school clubs, summer schools and pop-up events across the city, creating more flexible and accessible ways for young people to take part.
Inclusive Immersive 2.0 will work closely with local education partners including Sherbourne Fields School, Hereward College and Riverbank Academy, and culminate in school-based exhibitions and a public showcase. This will celebrate the creative work developed by participants and offer families, communities and industry audiences the opportunity to engage with the outcomes.
