The Royal Shakespeare Company is offering visitors the chance to learn all about how it achieves gory and ghostly effects in its theatrical performances.

The hour-long (and wheelchair-accessible) Ghost, Gore & Folklore tour visits either, or both, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and the adjacent Swan Theatre, moving through parts of the buildings where members of the general public usually aren’t allowed.

Along the way, learn about theatre superstitions and supernatural sightings… There has been a theatre on the site since 1879 and this tour will take you through some of the stories that have arisen during that 140+ years, including ghostly exits and entrances, but also the history of theatre superstition.

The tours are currently booking into early 2027. To find out more, head to the website at rsc.org.uk
