Henley Market is back, and it’s brimming with everything that makes the town special.
First chartered by King Henry VI in 1449, Henley-in-Arden proudly wore its badge as a market town for centuries. When the market finally closed, 14 years ago, many feared it marked the end of an era.
But Henley doesn’t give up that easily.
This February, four dynamic local women put their heads and hearts together to reawaken that historic spirit. Jenny (of Brookie Bean and the Pudding Box), Jen (of Mad Batter Bakes), Trish (Creative Company Solutions), and Sarah (Ethical Arts Project) aren’t just relaunching a market - they’re reviving a tradition, a meeting place, a community soul.
Saturday, 24th May, 10am–3pm, Venue: The White Swan garden area
The Market will be a celebration of Henley: food, drink, crafts, music, young entrepreneurs, and a proud independent spirit. It's not-for-profit, run by a community committee, and every penny raised will be ploughed back into local projects.
Opening the day is Henley’s own Emma Skipp - of Ocean Colour Scene fame - followed by a line-up of local musicians bringing live energy to the town once again.
One of the market’s most inspiring features is a Young Entrepreneurs stall, where 12-year-olds are selling jewellery, artwork, and even a self-published children’s book. There will also feature a Smartphone Free Childhood stand.
Is this just a new event? No - it’s a renaissance.
Henley was a market town. Henley is a market town. And come May 24th, it will be again.
