The National Theatre has announced the full cast for its new production of Jim Cartwright’s acclaimed modern classic The Rise and Fall of Little Voice, ahead of performances in Coventry and Wolverhampton next year.

Leading the company are BAFTA Award-winning actor Paul Chuckle (The Madame Blanc Mysteries), who will play Mr Boo, Olivier Award-winning actress Jill Halfpenny (The Long Shadow) as Mari Hoff, and Ian Charleson Award-winner Francesca Mills (Silent Witness) in the title role of Little Voice.

They are joined by Beverly Rudd as Sadie, Daniel Ryan as Ray Say, Adonis Siddique as Billy and Noel White as Telephone Man, alongside understudies and ensemble members Alice Croft, Kofi Dennis and Nicky Swift.

Directed by National Theatre Deputy Artistic Director Robert Hastie, the production will open in London's Dorfman Theatre this December before embarking on a national tour that includes dates at the Belgrade Theatre, Coventry, from 16 to 20 February 2027, and the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre from 9 to 13 March 2027.

A much-loved British classic, The Rise and Fall of Little Voice follows a shy young woman who spends her days hidden away in her bedroom, recreating the voices of legendary singers from her late father's record collection. But when her mother's latest boyfriend discovers her extraordinary talent, she is thrust towards a spotlight she never sought.

Featuring music inspired by iconic performers including Judy Garland and Shirley Bassey, the play is described as a joyful, tender and bittersweet story about ambition, identity and finding the courage to be heard.
