Following its roarsome 2022 success, the Realm of Zog is set to return to Warwick Castle in all its splendour this year.

Developed in partnership with brand owners Magic Light, the abundance of activities is set to once again thrill fans of the Julia Donaldson character, as illustrated by Axel Scheffler.

As well as the all-year-round Zog Playland, the world’s first Zog playground, superfans of the loveable dragon will be delighted to hear that the interactive Zog & the Quest for the Golden Star trail, Zog Live Show and Zog Play & Stay package are all returning this year - completing the Realm of Zog once again.

Even better yet - the Zog Playland, Zog Live Show and Zog and the Quest for the Golden Star interactive trail are all included in the price of a day ticket.

Children can slide into a world of adventure at the Zog Playland, which is inspired by Zog and the Flying Doctors, by author Julia Donaldson and illustrator Axel Scheffler. Combining sensory and physical play elements for children up to the age of 10, the playland was specially designed to create an inclusive and accessible play experience.

Featuring colourful dragons, crawl tunnels, dragon slides, a zip wire, Princess Pearl’s Tower, as well as interactive sand play and shopping at the imaginative play market stall, the Zog Playland truly enables children to immerse themselves in the imaginative world they know and love from the popular book and film.

Having originally launched in spring 2021, the Zog & the Quest for the Golden Star interactive trail was popular from the get-go - and thanks to its success, the ‘Realm of Zog’ at Warwick Castle has continued to grow into a much-loved attraction.

Returning in April 2023, this outdoor interactive trail based on the original Zog book and film, will feature brand new elements for 2023 - enhancing the experience and adding further engaging elements of play for youngsters. Of course - one of the most popular elements - the chance to meet Princess Pearl, Sir Gadabout and Zog himself - will continue to be a core feature of the trail.

Further evolving the mission to take children on a magical trip through the Realm of Zog, the Zog Live Show will return to Warwick Castle’s Pageant Field this summer.

Developed in partnership with Magic Light Pictures Ltd, featuring a script developed for the castle by Julia Donaldson and including staging that uses Axel Scheffler’s original artwork, the open-air show truly immerses audiences into the story of Zog.

The faithful retelling of the original Zog story includes much-loved characters from the book, live actors, puppets, special effects and music from the Zog film. The 30-minute performances allow families to relax on bean bags and benches (wheelchair accessible seating is also available) as they take in the adventurous details of the story - which will include exciting new elements for 2023.

For ultimate Zog superfans looking to extend their roarsome adventure into the evening, the Zog Play & Stay package at the castle’s Knight’s Village is perfect.

Having enjoyed an exclusive story time with one of the castle’s brave knights or enchanting princesses and spending time with Zog himself, overnight guests can head to their cosy Woodland Lodge or Medieval Glamping Tent**, in which they’ll find special Zog goodies – perfect for a family getaway.
