Already legendary as the iconic home of the Betfred British Masters and four-time host to the Ryder Cup, The Belfry Hotel & Resort, in the Midlands, has cemented its reputation as a world-renowned golfing destination with the phenomenal success of its first-ever Belfry Classic Golf Day, raising an incredible £110,000 for charity, more than double its target!
The exclusive event, on Thursday 22 May, saw celebrities from across the worlds of sport and entertainment - including Olympic gold medallist, Sir Steve Redgrave, Line of Duty and Peaky Blinders actor, Nigel Boyle, football legend, Alan McInally, and influencers, F0urBr0thers - follow in the footsteps of golfing giants, and play in a thrilling four-ball formation on the resort’s championship Brabazon course.
Hosted by esteemed sports presenter and award-winning journalist and broadcaster, Dan Walker, the invite-only event was complemented by an array of enthralling onsite activities. Amongst many others, this included ‘Beat the Pro’ with professional golfer and European Tour alum, Robert Rock; ‘Hole in One’, giving guests the chance to win a golf buggy from John Deere; and ‘Curry on the Course’, providing exquisite Indian cuisine from gourmet restaurant, and home of the best curry in the Midlands, Five Rivers À La Carte.
Actor and singer, Ashley Taylor Dawson, who also won Best Celebrity Golfer, shared: “A huge thank you to The Belfry for an incredible weekend. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute - such a wonderful event and so well organised!”
With as much going on off the greens as on them, The Belfry Classic, which was sponsored by Turkish Airlines and Elliott Group, also included a magnificent gala dinner designed by celebrity chef and Great British Menu winner, Tom Shepherd, who showcased his winning “No Ordinary Schoolboy” dessert. This is as well as an all-day BBQ, multiple drinks receptions, an exhilarating live auction with fantastic prizes, an unforgettable afterparty in the resort’s Brabazon Bar, and entertainment from live band, Apollo Soul.
Choreographer and former Strictly Come Dancing pro, James Jordan, commented: “The whole golf day was so good. Everyone I spoke to said it was the best one ever - the Belfry team, the organisation and the evening event were next level.”
The money raised from the event will support two of The Belfry’s life-changing partner charities – Hospitality Action and the Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
Set to become the go-to event of the golfing calendar, the next Belfry Classic Golf Day will take place on Thursday 21 May 2026.
