Built adjacent to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, the Swan is the property of the RSC and opened with a production of The Two Noble Kinsmen in May 1986. Along with the RST, the building underwent a multi-million pound transformation project in the early twenty-first century, reopening in 2010. Featuring a deep thrust stage, it’s a galleried, intimate auditorium holding around four hundred-and-fifty people. Since the transformation project, it’s been linked to the RST by a new colonnade.
