Winner of the Women’s Prize for Playwriting 2022, Karis Kelly’s play is a pitch-black and twisted tale of dysfunctional family dynamics, generational trauma and national boundaries.
Set at a 90th birthday party that nobody wants to attend, the play sees four generations of Northern Irish women reunited at a house full of hungy ghosts where there is more than one skeleton in the closet.
Consumed is the Belgrade’s third consecutive co-production with Paines Plough, following the hugely successful and award-winning productions of Strategic Love Play and My Mother’s Funeral: The Show, which both opened at the Belgrade before winning Fringe First Awards in Edinburgh, and transferring to London and New York.
