History enthusiasts can step back in time at Sudeley Castle
History enthusiasts can step back in time to the turbulent days of the English Civil War when this popular Sudeley Castle event returns mid-month.
Set against the backdrop of the historic Gloucestershire castle, the event will bring the 17th century to life through immersive re-enactments, military drills and living-history displays. Members of Lord Hopton’s Regiment of Foote, part of the English Civil War Society, will recreate the story of Prince Rupert, nephew of King Charles I, who used Sudeley Castle as a Royalist headquarters during the conflict.
Visitors can watch dramatic skirmishes, witness pike drills accompanied by drummers, and explore a living-history camp, where reenactors provide fascinating insights into everyday life during the Civil War.
