NDR Radiophilharmonic Hannover last year celebrated their 75th anniversary and are performing in Birmingham for the first time in almost a decade. They are using the occasion to pay tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven, just a matter of months shy of the 200th anniversary of his death.
As usual, the Hannover musicians will be guided through this mid-month concert by their charismatic chief conductor, Stanislav Kochanovsky.
The programme features two works by Beethoven - the Egmont Overture and Fourth Piano Concerto - and Brahms’ Second Symphony, a composition well known for its impressively boisterous finale.
The orchestra are joined for the concert by celebrated Argentinian pianist Ingrid Fliter.
