Birmingham’s Millennium Point has announced a day of free events as part of the 41st Birmingham Jazz & Blues Festival.
On Saturday 26 July, music fans can join a free singing workshop and performances from some of the best blues performers on the live circuit, in the landmark building.
The fun starts at 10am with the Everybody Has A Voice workshop. The free singing session is led by respected singing teacher Debbie Jones, famed internationally as the singer of the band Tipitina, and is open to all abilities and all ages. Afterwards the singing group will get to perform together in Millennium Point’s iconic atrium.
Then from 12.30pm, the free One-Day Blues Jam will bring the sounds of New Orleans, Chicago, and the Mississippi Delta to Birmingham. Four incredible acts will take to stage starting with super-group, the Honeyboy Hickling Blues Band. Afterwards, Debbie Jones returns to deliver her famous powerhouse vocals as part of festival favourites Tipitina. Next up are the legendary Chickenbone John and Harmonica Dave, alongside John’s famous cigar box guitar. Closing the night are Slide Boy Roy, famed for their electrifying blues and roots live shows across the UK.
