Something funny is happening at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery with the launch of a brand new comedy night on Thursday 4 September 2025.
Comedy at the Museum is set to bring a line-up of top-tier performers from the British comedy circuit to audiences in the unique surroundings of its historic Tearoom.
The opening night will see MC Matt Price and comedians Mike Gunn, Cally Beaton and Larry Dean take to the stage.
Matt Price has appeared in lots of major comedy clubs in the UK, as well as numerous independent comedy clubs and 15 Edinburgh Festivals. He has gained a reputation as a very funny but generous host who can make a great atmosphere for the acts and the audience.
Mike Gunn has a history which is as interesting and entertaining as his comedy. A misspent youth and a series of grim jobs cultivated his cynical outlook on life. During his comedy career Mike has supported the likes of Lee Mack, Jo Brand and Alan Davies. His TV appearances include Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC1), Celebrity Deal or no Deal (CH 4), Harry Hill’s TV Burp (ITV) and Al Murray’s sitcom Time Gentlemen Please (Sky).
Cally Beaton first took to the stage after a chance conversation with legendary American talk show host and comedian Joan Rivers. Her television appearances include QI, The Apprentice: You’re Fired, Live At The Apollo, Pointless Celebrities, Richard Osman’s House of Games, Countdown’s Dictionary Corner and The Blame Game. Cally is popular with BBC Radio 4 audiences where her appearances include The Now Show, The Unbelievable Truth, Saturday Live, Museum Of Curiosity, PM and Woman’s Hour. She is also a regular contributor on Radio 5 Live, Times Radio, Scala Radio and BBC London.
Larry Dean is an award-winning comedian, writer and actor who has been nominated three times for the prestigious Edinburgh Comedy Awards for his sellout, critically acclaimed solo stand-up shows. His broadcasting career credits include the Royal Variety Performance 2024, two appearances on Live at the Apollo (once as host), Mock the Week, House of Games, Roast Battle, World’s Most Dangerous Roads, The Stand Up Sketch Show, The Comedy Roast for SU2C, and Michael McIntyre’s Big Show. He was the host for the Scottish Heat of the BBC’s New Comedy Awards 2023-2024 and is the co-host of BBC Sounds podcast, Famously… On Trial, alongside Stacey Dooley.
With doors opening at 6.00 pm before the show starts at 7.00 pm, guests are invited to take a wander around the museum and buy a drink from the Tearoom bar before settling in to enjoy the show.
Tickets (£19.50) are available to purchase online.
