Bringing Beethoven’s 9th Symphony to Worcester Cathedral

Known in the county for its thrilling performances, the Worcestershire Symphony Orchestra presents Beethoven’s 'Choral' Symphony this May.

Conducted by Keith Slade, they will be joined by a 100-strong chorus of local singers, and soloists Claire Prewer (soprano), Beth Lynch (mezzo-soprano), Harry Jacques (tenor) and John Lofthouse (baritone) as the symphony draws to its titanic conclusion.

The Orchestra, founded by Sir Edward Elgar himself, will also perform the ever-popular Brahms Violin Concerto, with soloist Katy Smith, and the famous anthem of British composer Sir Hubert Parry, I Was Glad, which featured in the coronation of King Charles III.

Beethoven’s last and greatest symphony is unlikely to be performed frequently in the area - due to the work's scale - so this is a concert not to be missed.
