Artistic Director Corey Campbell, Interim CEO Emma Flatley, and the whole team at the Belgrade Theatre Coventry are delighted to reveal details of their forthcoming spring and summer family shows.

There’s a Monster in Your Show, playing from Tuesday 17 - Saturday 21 February, is a brand-new interactive musical based on Tom Fletcher’s Who’s in Your Book? series. As a group of performers prepare to begin, they discover Little Monster wants to join the show – bringing Dragon, Alien and Unicorn along for the ride. Expect playful chaos, lively original music and plenty of interaction as the story celebrates the joy of books and friendship. This high-energy 50-minute show is suitable for ages 2+. It also celebrates its 100th performance this week!

The Boy at the Back of the Class, playing from Wednesday 25 - Saturday 28 February, is the smash-hit, joyful stage adaptation of the best-selling novel that celebrates friendship, kindness and compassion. There used to be an empty chair at the back of the class, but now a new boy called Ahmet is sitting in it. He’s nine, doesn’t speak or smile, and his classmates hatch ‘The Greatest Idea in the World’ to help reunite him with his family. Told from a child’s perspective, this heart-and-humour adventure reminds us that everyone needs a place to call home. Suitable for ages 7+.

For older children, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged), playing on Friday 13 & Saturday 14 March, is the worldwide comic phenomenon that condenses all 37 of the Bard’s plays into a wild, irreverent rollercoaster ride of laughter. Rebooted and reimagined for 2026, this updated version from the Reduced Shakespeare Company has enjoyed years in London’s West End and tours internationally, leaving audiences breathless with humour. Expect non-stop comedy as the company race through the classics in a fast-paced show that’s as playful as it is clever. Suitable for ages 12+.

When the books at Nell’s owner Peter’s school have disappeared one morning, Detective Dog Nell is ready to sniff out the culprit! With British Sign Language, creative captions and spoken English, The Detective Dog celebrates books and the magic of reading in an inclusive and accessible performance. Expect captivating puppetry; surprising smells and toe-tapping music. Suitable for ages 3+, and showing on both Wednesday 1 & Thursday 2 April.

A mouse took a stroll through the deep dark wood in Tall Stories’ magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book The Gruffalo, showing from Wednesday 27 - Saturday 30 May. Join Mouse on a daring adventure in search of hazelnuts where she meets Fox, Owl and Snake, and wonders if the terrifying Gruffalo might really be out there after all. Experience songs, laughs and monstrous fun for children and their grown-ups alike in this much-loved story brought to life on stage. Suitable for ages 3+.

Roald Dahl’s The Enormous Crocodile is weaving his way through the jungle to the Belgrade Theatre from Thursday 11 - Sunday 14 June. Mischievous and musical, this lively family adventure brings Dahl’s snappy story to life as the greedy crocodile plots to catch “delicious little fingers and squidgy podgy knees” and the other jungle creatures must find the courage to stop him. Expect humour, puppetry and toe‑tapping fun in a wickedly funny musical for little ones and their grown‑ups. Suitable for ages 3+.

The annual Belgrade Pantomime for 2026 will be Beauty and the Beast, written by and starring Coventry panto superstar Iain Lauchlan from Wednesday 18 November - Saturday 2 January 2027.
