A mass-ive treat is in store for Pershore music enthusiasts when the town welcomes back a popular county choir for a Baroque masterpiece.
Bach's B Minor Mass is a major undertaking for the Elgar Chorale which, led by musical director Piers Maxim, will perform the work in Pershore Abbey on Saturday 21 June.
The singers will be accompanied by the Baroque Ensemble and soloists Katie Trethewey (CORR), Charles Humphries, Mark Dobell and Jonathan Marc (CORR) Brown.
Based in Worcester, the Chorale singers and their conductor are no strangers to Pershore Abbey, having previously performed Handel's Messiah and Fauré's Requiem in the building within the last few years.
And now they're delighted to be 'Bach' and providing Pershore's people with the chance to hear a live performance of such a significant work.
"As one of Bach’s most monumental and revered compositions, the Mass in B minor is a testament to his mastery of choral and orchestral writing," says Chorale chairman Tim Watson.
"Our concert promises to be an extraordinary occasion set within the stunning architecture and acoustics of Pershore Abbey and offers an opportunity to experience a masterpiece that continues to inspire and captivate audiences centuries after its creation."
Tickets for the 7pm performance range from £16 - £22, with concession prices available, and students and under 18s (accompanied by an adult) FREE.
They are available from Eventbrite, Worcester Tourist Information Office (01905 726311) or Pershore Visitor Centre in the High Street ( 01386 561561). Full details: www.elgarchorale.com
