Evesham Vale Junior Triathlon Club has announced a new triathlon event at Lenches Lakes in Worcestershire 

The inaugural event, which will go ahead on Sunday 7 June, is dedicated to junior triathletes and offers a unique experience to compete in a highly sought after location. 

Competitors will swim in the venue’s acclaimed open water lake, cycle on an off road bike course before completing the final run on a grass and trail track.

Natasha Dent, Event Director, said: “Lenches Lakes is a beautiful venue and the perfect place to try triathlon and open water swimming for the first time. We aim to provide a fun, safe and inclusive event for first timers, whilst equally providing exciting opportunities for those that have more experience racing.” 

The event is open to age groups from TriStarStart (age 7-8) to Tristar 3 (age 13-14) and costs £20/25 each. Entrants should be confident swimmers and capable of swimming their required category distance. 

Unique medals will be provided for all participants, plus prizes for both male and female podium finishers. The Co-Op will also provide water and refreshments for those that complete the event. 

The event is also being sponsored by local businesses Pool Care Leisure LTD, Gonvarri Industries and Orium Design.

EVT Junior Tri is the only triathlon club in Worcestershire that has a dedicated junior section. It has grown exponentially since its inception in 2024 and has expanded from just three junior members to 58 - with its youngest member being just six years old. 

Lee Ross, EVT Junior Tri Club Head Coach and Club Co-ordinator, added: “It’s inspiring to see so many children wanting to give triathlon a go. We are a club that supports all ages and abilities, which really shines through in the growth of our membership base. We cannot wait to welcome more juniors to Lenches Lakes in June. As a club, we are committed to promoting, supporting and facilitating opportunities for grassroots sport.”

The club is inviting all children interested in participating in the event to their training sessions, which are held at the Abbey Stadium, Redditch every Sunday between 3-5pm.
