September 2025 started off with a bang with the start of our new Worcester Theatres Performance Hub BTEC held at the Swan Theatre in the heart of Worcester. The Level 3 BTEC Extended Diploma in Performing Arts provides a high-quality arts education for students aged 16 to 19 in Worcestershire. The two-year BTEC course provides practical hands-on experience for students to learn and develop areas of dance, drama, music and musical theatre in a creative collaborative environment.

Worcester Theatres is one of the few professional theatres in the UK to be offering a fully accredited BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts. Students have the opportunity to develop practical and academic skills in the performing arts sector, alongside gaining valuable industry experience from industry professionals, with exclusive access to the Swan Theatre facilities, and Worcester Repertory (also known as Worcester Rep) productions creative teams.

Students can personalise their education experience with 13 modules to choose such as Performing Arts in the Community, Skills and Techniques for Live Performance, Theatre Directing and many more. Once students have completed the BTEC course they will have the knowledge and skills to further progress into higher education, or straight into employment in the performing arts sector. The Worcester Theatres Performance Hub BTEC is equivalent to three A-Levels and worth up to 168 UCAS points.

Aaron Corbett, WT Performance Hub Performing Arts Tutor said “It’s been lovely for me to work with the BTEC students every day and help them harness their natural talents and performance skills.  Work towards their first module, Variety Performance, is already underway and they’re all buzzing to have their first performance in the Swan Studio. I look forward to meeting a new group of young people who wish to join us on the WT Performance Hub ride! Our open days will be great opportunities to learn more about the course, see the spaces you’ll be learning in and get a look into life of college in a professional theatre.”

Summer, Worcester Theatres Performance Hub student, said "We're currently looking at our Variety show performance where we're hoping to combine, singing, acting and slapstick comedy. It’s a very practical unit and has been very fun coming up with ideas for and planning. I'm doing a pantomime outside of my studies and I can already see that what I'm learning on the course will help improve my performance. I have no regrets joining this course."

Worcester Theatres will be hosting three open days for 2026 entry at the Swan Theatre on Monday 3 November 2025 at 5pm, Saturday 14 February 2026 at 1pm, and Saturday 18 April 2026 at 1pm. The open days will be the chance for prospective students to explore the Swan Theatre, chat and ask questions to tutors who will be leading the course and meet other students who also have a passion for the performing arts.

With only 15 places on the BTEC course per year, not only will students receive an attentive personalised education from our experienced tutors, students themselves can hone in on their skill set in specific subjects of interest that vary from drama, dance, music, and musical theatre. If you are a student currently browsing your further education 2026 options, why not pop along to one of our open days held at the Swan Theatre. Get in touch today!
