And, as under 16s can enter for free, it makes for a great family day out this summer.
Amazing Animal Encounters!
Recognised nationally as one of the largest livestock and equine shows in the UK, the Royal Three Counties Show has no shortage of animal encounters for families and visitors to enjoy. A highlight of the show is the Grand Parade of Livestock, taking place daily in the Main Arena, in which hundreds of animals are led around the arena while commentators - including BBC Countryfile presenter and Cotswold Farm Park co-owner, Adam Henson - provide interesting information about each breed.
New for this year’s show, Atkinson Action Horses will stun visitors with a high energy, jaw-dropping display of specially trained horses. The Atkinson family from Yorkshire have liberty trained their highly skilled horses to perform at shows and in films and television programmes for over 25 years, with credits including Disney’s Rivals, Netflix’s Seven Dials and BBC’s Poldark and Peaky Blinders series. The Red Devils will return on Friday and Sunday (weather permitting) with their spectacular aerial parachute display, free falling at speeds of up to 120mph in jaw-dropping canopy formations.
This year, a brand-new behind the scenes livestock tour (available to book online in advance) will give visitors aged 8 and over the chance to step into areas not normally open to the public during judging times and get up close to some prize-winning animals whilst discovering more about the hard work, dedication and passion that goes in to preparing the animals to show.
Additionally, visitors to the show can admire a poignant presentation of Richmond Purple Poppies (gifted to the Donkey Breed Society), along with artefacts commemorating the roles of animals in war, during its time on display at the Royal Three Counties Show before it continues its tour of military museums across the UK.
The award-winning Attwell Farm Park in Worcestershire will be returning to the Royal Three Counties Show again this year with their furry friends and creepy crawlies, providing animal encounters and hands-on learning for visitors of all ages.
Over in the Smallholders Area, little ones are sure to be delighted by the new Alpaca Café, where they can share tables with these friendly, furry creatures and learn fascinating facts about alpacas while watching as the animals tuck into their favourite treats.
