More than 80 young people from Worcestershire rolled up their sleeves for a special food packing experience at their school.
Students from South Bromsgrove High School packed over 5,000 rice-based meals that will be shipped to children in Zimbabwe, after teaming up with Feed The Hungry UK and Bromsgrove Rotary Club.
South Bromsgrove High School proudly hosted a large-scale food-packing event last month, bringing together 65 students, staff volunteers and members of Bromsgrove Rotary Club to support Feed the Hungry’s Million Meal Miracle campaign.
The initiative was coordinated by the school’s Charity Group, an Interact Club sponsored by Bromsgrove Rotary, as part of Feed the Hungry’s nationwide Million Meals Miracle project. The cost of the event was supported by Bromsgrove Rotary Club, enabling full student participation.
These nutritious meals help ensure that young people can attend school regularly, free from the uncertainty of where their next meal will come from, supporting both their health and their learning.
Representatives from Feed the Hungry, including Events Coordinator Olivia Jack, attended to oversee the event and support the students’ efforts.
Several members of Bromsgrove Rotary Club also took part, reinforcing the strong and long-standing partnership between the school and the Rotary community. Miss Holly Seymour, Deputy Head of Year 10, praised the students’ enthusiasm, teamwork and commitment across all three sessions.
The food-packing event forms part of the wider work of South Bromsgrove High’s Charity Group, a student-led organisation that supports a range of local and global causes each year. Alongside Feed the Hungry, the group is currently supporting the Harry Bennett Foundation and the Tom Jones Memorial Fund.
